We only host 2 students at a time, each student has a large private bedroom on the second floor of our home, (not in the basement) with walk-in closets, large desks and flat screen TV’s. New sheets & towels. One full bath room and one ˝ bath for 2 students to share. (Hosts have a desperate bathroom in the bedroom.)

We have one dog, 14 year old English Pointer, who moves a little slow, sleeps a lot and loves people.

Two very large student bedrooms with walk in closets on second floor of our home-NOT in the basement. The Daly’s began accepting students, (maximum of two) in January of 2013, each student has their own newly remodeled/decorated private bedroom, including bed, dresser, walk-in closet, desk, chair, internet access and AT&T U-verse HD-TV and flat screen TV. We have central air conditioning for cooling in the summer and forced air heat for the cold months. Linens, blankets, pillows and towels are provided. New Washer-Dryer available free for student use. They will also have the use of one full bathrooms and one 1/2 bath. (Host bathroom in Master Bedroom suite) Breakfast and dinner will be provided as a part of the living arrangement. Our home is professionally cleaned each week and in a very safe and clean neighborhood. Travel to downtown Chicago is easily accessible by both train and bus, about 20-30 minutes. They are within walking distant of the Metra and CTA Greenline train stations to downtown Chicago (UIC, Kaplan, Intrax, Roosevelt, DePaul and IIT) as well as Concordia University and Dominican University in River Forest.
The Daly’s are members of World Chicago serving as citizen diplomats for the International Visitor Leadership Program and have frequently hosted international visitors for dinner in their home. It is through this experience as well as their professional travels; that they have decided to renovate and expand the size of their home to accommodate live-in guests and enable them to comfortably host international students in their Chicago home.
Meet hosts KL & Lyle Daly. KL, (57) is a self proclaimed Army Brat, having lived throughout the world as a child, and later as a foreign exchange student, studying abroad. Her mother was a native of Karlsruhe, Germany and her oldest two siblings were born in Germany. Throughout her 15-year corporate career she traveled internationally and has now made her home in the Oak Park, Frank Lloyd Historic District with her husband of 17 years, Lyle and their dog, Ellie a 2-year old Pointer/Terrier mix-small 25lbs. She is the Co-Chair ATHENA International-Chicago, a womens leadership organization. As an avid gourmet cook, she maintains both an organic rare heirloom vegetable and a culinary herb garden. She is a graduate of the Kelly School of Business, Indiana University.
Lyle, (63) a licensed architect works in downtown Chicago, aka the Loop (commuting by bike/train) for JP Morgan Chase. He holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan. Lyle has traveled internationally, managing projects in England, France, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Luxemburg, Bermuda, Singapore, Turkey, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
KL speaks some German and Spanish and Lyle does speak, read and write in Spanish.
About Oak Park: known for architecture and cultural diversity, it is centrally located to many universities and English as a second language programs. Quaint but sophisticate, it offers the best of both worlds, easy access to Chicago night life and culture (museums & arts) along with a village of highly educated residents that embrace diversity and celebrate ethnicity.
